August is typically one of our busiest months here at Bellmont Partners, with client teams working on everything from the Uptown Art Fair to Minnesota State Fair projects with Midwest Dairy/Princess Kay of the Milky Way, Minnesota Wine Country, Minnesota Grown, The Great Big Wheel, People Incorporated and Second Harvest Heartland to new business brainstorms and planning as the next calendar year creeps closer and closer. So, this summer, we were thrilled to welcome Melisa Robles Olivar to our team as an operations intern during this especially busy time of year.
Her cheerful disposition – whether helping with clip reports, research, writing or restocking our snacks and beverages – along with her work ethic helped our team maximize their time and efforts to provide the best service and results possible for our clients. As her internship comes to a close, Melisa reflected on her time at our agency – read on below to hear her first-hand experiences, and thanks, Melisa, for all your work!
“This summer, I had the privilege to intern at Bellmont Partners, named one of the Best Places to Work by both Inc. and the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. Through my month-long internship I had the honor of meeting the 14 members that make up one of the many public relations agencies in the Twin Cities area.
Coming into a public relations agency, I did not know what to expect but was eager to dive in and learn as much as I could about public relations. Throughout my time here, I was greeted with warm welcomes and each member of Bellmont Partners was friendly. I had a one-on-one meeting with almost every member of the team – even though it was one of their busiest months of the year with to client work. Through each conversation, there were similar things that were brought up about Bellmont Partners that I couldn’t agree with more. But the one thing that encompasses everything about Bellmont Partners is that they care about their employees.
The agency knows its mission and values that it’s transparent – that each member feels appreciated for the work that they do at Bellmont Partners – and this is evident of the connections they have with their clients and the work they do for them. Members are given the flexibility to work from home or at the office, giving them the freedom to work anywhere at any time. Bellmont Partners seeks and provides opportunities not only for its clients, but for its employees by allowing them to work on a variety of clients that will challenge prepare them for future-problems – along with the chance to grow within the agency.
Everyone is very cooperative and willing to help others, I witnessed that first-hand when I asked others for help or if they needed my help.
Within a week, I started to do work on client-related work and was diving into:
- Press releases: Writing a press release for a client
- Organizational work: Office organization and client-file organization
- Monitoring: Tracking three different clients using Cision and Critical Mention
- Case studies: Creating case studies for five different clients
- Creating media lists: Making media lists for a variety of clients with different objectivities
- Research: Using a variety of platforms to find information about figures and organizations for event purposes
It has been a great, overwhelming experience of learning something new each day here at Bellmont Partners. I’m now re-considering my minors I have in mind and perhaps minoring in marketing to utilize both my experience in marketing and public relations, which I’m seeing go hand-in-hand.
Interning at Bellmont Partners is a bittersweet way to end my summer before I start Augsburg this Fall. I’m thankful for the experience and connections I’ve made at Bellmont Partners and look forward to what the future may hold.”
