Anyone who’s met Bellmont Partners COO Jen Bellmont knows how committed she is to her clients, colleagues and community – and now our industry has made it official. Ragan’s and PR Daily have announced that Jen is one of this year’s Top Women in Communications.
According to Ragan’s and PR Daily, the awards honor “those making a significant impact in their day-to-day jobs and careers, advancing the profession while accelerating growth for their organizations. The women on this list inspire—they are fearless and indefatigable players in the game.”
Jen was recognized for her work as a “Community Giver.” In early 2017, Jen spearheaded formalizing our company volunteer initiative – Bellmont Gives Back – designed to provide our employees with the time and resources necessary to support community organizations and causes important to them, both individually and as part of the agency’s pro bono work. Employees can dedicate paid time to give back, from taking time to donate blood, to volunteering at their kids’ schools, to serving on nonprofit boards – and everything in between. In 2019, team members contributed – through agency pro bono initiatives and paid volunteer time – 828 hours, or an equivalent of $154,000.
One example of a Bellmont Partners team member putting the Bellmont Gives Back initiative to work couldn’t be more recent: For the past several weeks, Account Director Hyedi Nelson had been planning the first annual Concert for Charlie, which unfolded in spectacular fashion last night with performances by Adam Levy and Peter J Sands of the Honeydogs, Chris Koza, Bathtub Cig and the Twins of Franklin. Inspired by the loss of Hyedi and her husband Jesse’s son Charlie, Hyedi coordinated the evening of live music to raise funds and awareness for Faith’s Lodge, a nonprofit organization that provides a safe haven for those coping with the death or medically complex condition of a child. Hyedi also serves on the organization’s board.
Both Jen and Hyedi are members of Bellmont Partners’ nonprofit practice group, which has worked with some of Minnesota’s most impactful and innovative nonprofits, including Second Harvest Heartland, People Incorporated, ServeMinnesota, Girls on the Run, Minnesota Firefighter Initiative, United Way Greater Twin Cities and many others.
In addition, Jen serves on the board of Smile Network International, and was named one of Minnesota Business Magazine’s Women Who Lead. Her community-focused leadership has led to Bellmont Partners winning multiple Best Places to Work awards from the Mpls. St. Paul Business Journal and, for the first time in 2019, a Best Workplace nod from Inc. Magazine.
Jen and the other honorees will be recognized at an awards ceremony in New York in March.
Congratulations!
