In October, Bellmont Partners launched a state-wide public relations campaign to help the Minnesota Fire Service Foundation raise $600,000 for a new memorial to Minnesota’s fallen firefighters. On Wednesday, we had the pleasure of organizing a news conference for the foundation to announce it had exceeded its fundraising goal before its year-end deadline. Congratulations to the foundation and all the firefighters, organizations and businesses around the state who made this possible!

Approximately 100 people attended the news conference, including three news stations, several newspaper reporters, firefighters from across the state, leaders from the state’s firefighter organizations, family members of firefighters who have died in the line of duty and city officials.

The Minnesota Firefighter Memorial will stand on the grounds of the State Capitol. Construction will begin in the spring, with the memorial completed by National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in October 2012.

There’s still time to be part of the legacy. Financial contributions to the Minnesota Firefighter Memorial fund can be sent to: Minnesota Fire Service Foundation c/o Flagship Bank, 7525 Office Ridge Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55344-3644. Online contributions can be made at www.mnfireservicefoundation.org. All contributions are tax deductible. Donations exceeding the $600,000 goal will fund education scholarships for children of active, retired or deceased firefighters and for spouses of deceased firefighters.
